Which image formats can I compress?

Are images uploaded to Technochiya?

Why might a PNG become larger?

PNG uses lossless compression, so the quality slider does not affect it like JPG or WebP. Converting a photograph from PNG to JPG or WebP often produces a smaller file.

Does compression remove image metadata?

The downloaded image is newly generated in your browser, so most original metadata is not included.
